PRIVATE ALLEGORIES:
SIMULTANEOUSLY EXPLORING PERSONAL AND SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF

PLAY, DELICACY AND DOUBT
AS AN ARTIST, I STRIVE TO COMMUNICATE PERSONAL THEMES AND MIND-SETS TO THE VIEWER
BY FINDING COMMON GROUND. FIVE TOOLS, INTIMACY, NOSTALGIA, PLAY, DELICACY AND DOUBT;
ARE CONTINUALLY USED IN THE WORKS TO DRAW IN THE VIEWER, ALLOWING THEM TO RELATE
TO AND INTERACT WITH THE THEMES OF THE ARTWORK. MY PAINTING, PHOTOGRAPHS, AND MINIATURE
WORKS TRY TO EXPRESS THEMES OF GENDER, BODY IMAGE, SOCIAL PRESSURE, HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS,
ISOLATION, AND DOCUMENTATION, ALL INTIMATE THEMES THAT ARE ECHOED IN THE LARGER HUMAN
EXPERIENCE. I EXPRESS THESE THEMES USING IMAGES OF MY SELF, MY FAMILY, AND MY SURROUNDINGS.

MY WORK FOLLOWS THEIR'S, PLAYING ON COLLECTIVE MEMORY TO EVOKE FEELINGS OF LONGING
AND TIMELESSNESS. MY OUR DOUBTS ARE EXPLORED AS A TOOL FOR HUMANIZING PERSONAL/POLITICAL
THEMES IN ARTWORK, FOCUSING ON MY INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCE. MATERIALS ARE CRAFT PLAY
A MAJOR ROLE IN MY WORK. THE PROCESSES I WORK WITH ALL HAVE THEIR OWN CONNOTATIONS
AND HISTORICAL RELEVANCE THAT ADDS IN COMMUNICATING THE IDEA THAT THESE THEMES ARE
MULTI-GENERATIONAL, SPANNING TIME AND SPACE.
